Artifact 1: Is Heavy Weight Training Best For High School Athletes?

This artifact was completed in HHPK 595, Critiquing and Conduct Research during Fall session in 2017.

This artifact is a research paper evaluating the effects of heavy weight training on adolescent student athletes. This artifact coincides directly with human performance by analyzing how and what affects lifting heavier weights at a young age has on the body of adolescents. Different studies were researched and reviewed on what lifting heavy weights can do at a young age, with the constant pressure for athletes to become bigger, faster, stronger, this artifact dives deep into whether or not power lifting is necessary. After researching and writing this research paper, my knowledge on training and conditioning increased and perception was changed. I particularly enjoyed this assignment because it is parallel to my strength and conditioning business training adolescent athletes in the off season.

Knowing this as a athletic administrator can give my program an advantage over other teams when applied to a strength and conditioning program.
